The President held a meeting with the US Assistant Secretary of State
Moldovan President Igor Dodon met with David Hale, US Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs, who is on a visit to Moldova.

The parties discussed many issues related to development of bilateral strategic dialogue. In particular, Igor Dodon thanked the American side for the financial assistance and significant support provided to the Republic of Moldova in various fields over the course of 27 years of independence. They also spoke about successful implementation of large projects, such as the Millennium Challenge in 2007–2009, and our interest in continuing similar programs with the assistance of the United States.

I highly appreciated the support of the United States in resolving the political crisis in the Republic of Moldova and ensuring the peaceful transfer of power. Thanks to the support from external partners and a broad internal consensus, the Republic of Moldova has a chance to improve its economy and conduct a balanced foreign policy based on national interests. The presidential administration, the government and the parliamentary majority would keep in force all international agreements signed by the Republic of Moldova, including with the European Union. In addition, I appealed to the United States to support our efforts to strengthen the permanent internationally recognized neutrality of our country. In addition, I noted that we highly appreciated the prospects of the process in the 5 + 2 format for Transnistrian issue resolving and the role of the United States and the other participants in the negotiations”, the Head of State noted on his page on the social network after the meeting.
