Igor Dodon held a working meeting with the US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova
The President of the Republic of Moldova held a working meeting with the US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Derek Hogan. During the meeting, the sides discussed the whole range of bilateral relations, as well as issues of domestic and foreign policy of our country.
Particular attention was paid to the upcoming parliamentary elections on February 24. The Head of State outlined to Mr. Ambassador the reasons for his non-participation in the election race.
Igor Dodon stressed that on January 25, an official campaign was officially launched in Moldova, so the President will refrain from making statements on the electoral theme both in the media and during meetings with citizens of the country.
The President told the US Ambassador that, in the context of the elections, the main issue remained the internal and international legitimacy of the future Parliament and Government, therefore it was necessary to make every effort to hold fair and transparent elections.
At the end of the meeting, Igor Dodon reaffirmed his readiness to actively develop strategic dialogue between the two countries.
