PSRM Republican Council summed up general local elections and outlined plans for the future


Today, an expanded meeting of the Republican Council of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova took place, which was also attended by mayors and chairmen of district councils, deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, municipal councilors, elected from PSRM. At the invitation of the PSRM, the President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon participated in the meeting of the Republican Council.

The meeting reviewed results of the general local as well as new parliamentary elections held on October 20. The Republican Council stated that the Party of Socialists achieved good results in the past elections. According to the information provided by the PSRM chair Zinaida Greceanii, the PSRM received the largest number of mandates in total - 326 at the level of district and municipal councils, including 22 mandates in the Chisinau municipal council and seven mandates in the Balti city council.

From the Party of Socialists 206 mayors of settlements, 2,986 councilors of villages and communes were elected. Zinaida Greceanii proudly celebrated the victory of the PSRM candidate Ion Cheban in Chisinau, where he became the general mayor.

The PSRM parliamentary faction currently consists of 36 deputies. Zinaida Grechanii emphasized that the most important thing was to plan concrete work on implementation of election promises in each locality. The issues of the current political situation in the Republic of Moldova were separately considered. The Republican Council positively accepted information about resignation of the Maia Sandu’s government and appointment of a new technocrat government led by Ion Chicu, expressing full support for the actions of the country's leadership and, above all, the President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon to normalize the socio-political and socio-economic situation in the Republic of Moldova.
