President of Moldova held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Poland
Igor Dodon held a working meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Yatsek Chaputovich, who is on an official visit to our country.
The parties discussed a number of bilateral relations issues, and recalled that on July 14 we would celebrate 27 years from the date of the diplomatic relations establishment.
The Head of Moldova stressed that Poland remained one of the most active European partners of the Republic of Moldova, occupying the 8th place in terms of trade turnover, which reached $300 million in 2018. At the same time, this country is the largest importer of Moldovan wines among the EU countries and one of the largest foreign investors in the EU, whose volume of investments in Moldova exceeds 220 million lei.
Igor Dodon thanked the Polish side for financial assistance provided to our country as part of the Development Assistance Program. He welcomed the fact that Moldova and Poland signed 37 agreements in various fields of activity.
“In addition, we discussed the situation in the internal policy of the Republic of Moldova. I thanked the leadership of Poland for supporting the new parliamentary coalition and the current Government and noted that Moldova has a unique chance for sustainable development thanks to a broad national consensus and support from external partners.
The Presidential Administration, in conjunction with the Parliament and the Government, is making every effort necessary to restore pragmatic relations with our partners and conduct a balanced foreign policy.
At the end of the meeting, I conveyed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, for the invitation to take part in commemorative events to be held in Poland on September 1, 2019 timed to the 80th anniversary of the World War II beginning,” Igor Dodon said.
