Orthodox Christians celebrate Day of St. Basil
Today, Orthodox Christians celebrate the Circumcision of the Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ and the Day of Remembrance of St. Basil the Great, Archbishop of Caesarea Cappadocia, one of the most important fathers of the Orthodox Church.

St. Basil the Great fought for the Orthodox faith with all his might and preached it through his words and teachings. He always helped the poor, sick and old.

Also today, most Moldovans traditionally celebrate the New Year by the old style. Traditionally, groups of children go to homes wishing people good health and a prosperous year. I sincerely congratulate our fellow citizens and wish you all a prosperous year, and especially to those who are celebrating their name day today. Happy New Year!”- Moldovan President Igor Dodon wrote on the social network.
