Campaigning on elections day will be prohibited only at polling stations and 100 meters away
The deputies of the Moldovan parliament adopted on Thursday, November 8, in the first reading a bill abolishing the “day of silence” before the elections and on the day of voting. Thus, political campaigning on elections day will be allowed, with the exception of the polling stations themselves and within 100 meters distance from them.
Speaking for the abolition of the “days of silence”, the speaker of the Moldovan parliament cited as an example the system operating in the United States of America, as well as the situation in Moldova at the past local elections, which were declared invalid.
