Igor Dodon: The supreme task of the Moldovan leadership is to ensure the country's economic development and prevent a mass exodus of citizens
The Head of State detailed in the article for the weekly "Economic Review" the main tasks of the leadership of our country.

"The Republic of Moldova is a country with a small economy. Our country is located on the border of two major integration projects, but its development should not depend on political games of internal and external forces.

The supreme task of the Moldovan leadership is to ensure the continuity of the country's economic development and prevent a mass exodus of citizens. To accomplish this task, we need a balanced approach to foreign economic activity.

On the basis of a detailed analysis of the commodity structure of exports and imports in the context of the countries of the Customs Union (now the Eurasian Economic Union) and the European Union, experts came to the main conclusion: economic agents of the countries of the Customs Union are not competitors to the Moldovan business either on the domestic market of Moldova or the Russian market in particular.

In other words, what we import from the Russian Federation and other countries of the EAEU does not "break" our market and does not "kill" our manufacturer! And there is a steady demand for the goods that we export to the Russian market.

The conclusions in this situation are obvious:

-Moldova needs a balanced foreign economic policy, and it is necessary and possible to have good relations with the West and the East, proceeding from our national interests.

- reorientation of the Moldovan economy to the European Union for the sake of geopolitical projects is artificial and causes great damage to the local producer.

-It is urgently necessary to seek a return to the traditional markets of the CIS countries and the EAEU (for this reason, Moldova received observer status with the EAEU),

"Additional measures are needed to attract investment, support domestic producers and protect the domestic market," the publication said.
