Prime Minister Ion Chicu discussed investment projects with the German Ambassador to Moldova

Prime Minister Ion Chicu met with the German Ambassador to Moldova Angela Ganninger. The discussion focused on the topic of planned investments in public infrastructure for 2020, MOLDPRES reports.

According to the Government’s Press and Protocol Relations Department, the Prime Minister told the German diplomat that the government would make major investments in road infrastructure. Priority is also given to the national water supply, solid waste management and street lighting programs.

The parties exchanged views on the government’s intention to develop the country's airport infrastructure. In this context, the head of the executive branch noted the need for Moldova to have another international airport. Thus, a contract will be signed with an international company for a feasibility study regarding opening of an airport in Balti. The government intends to implement the project through private investment. The Prime Minister said that the opening of the airport in Marculesti is easy to carry out, since it requires less investment - about 50 million lei. The functionality of the airport will contribute to the development of a free economic zone.

In addition, the parties discussed the problems of business development by foreign investors in the country, course of discussions with the IMF, as well as implementation of justice reform.
