Igor Dodon met with members of the Turkish parliament led by Mehmet Altai


The Head of State met with a delegation of deputies of the Turkish Parliament led by Mehmet Altai, head of the Moldova-Turkey parliamentary friendship group.

During the conversation, the Moldovan leader noted the advanced level of bilateral relations and called for maintaining the pace of sustainable growth of the Moldovan-Turkish strategic dialogue.

The Republic of Turkey is one of the most important trade partners of the Republic of Moldova, and we would like our economy to remain an attractive destination for the Turkish business,” said the President of Moldova.

Igor Dodon also praised the financial and technical assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), especially in the Gagauz autonomy.

In recent years, the Agency has allocated more than 33 million US dollars for projects in various priority areas, such as healthcare, education, environmental protection, etc.

Today is an important day for the Republic of Moldova, namely: the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Law “On the special legal status of Gagauzia (Gagauz-Yeri)”. I highlighted the special role of the Republic of Turkey and personally the then President Suleiman Demirel in resolving the crisis in the region in the early 90s.

In continuation I informed the delegation about my upcoming official visit to the Republic of Turkey on December 29-30 this year when the Moldovan-Turkish Forum of Business People and the first meeting of the High-level Strategic Cooperation Council are planned,
