Igor Dodon: Moldovan authorities will appeal to the USA, Great Britain and Romania regarding the whereabouts of Vladimir Plahotniuc

The investigative authorities of Moldova will urgently contact authorities of the United States of America, Great Britain and Romania to find out the whereabouts of the fugitive oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc. The Head of State announced his order on the case at a press conference following the meeting of the Supreme Security Council.

The President also said that Vladimir Plahotniuc was not included in the list of wanted by Interpol, and demanded clear explanations on this issue.

We also note that at today's meeting of the Supreme Security Council, one of the main topics of discussion was the theft of a billion euros from the banking system of Moldova, the main beneficiaries of which are Vladimir Plahotniuc, Vladimir Filat (released yesterday by decision of Chisinau court with gross violations of the law, - Ed.), as well as Ilan Shor.

According to President Dodon, of the stolen amount, only 2.4 billion lei was repaired, and assets worth 1.2 billion lei were seized.

The Head of State ordered to urgently announce a tender to select an international partner for return of the remaining amount withdrawn from three troubled banks of the republic.
