EBRD will continue to invest in large projects in Moldova

The EBRD will continue to invest in major projects aimed at improving the living standards of citizens of the Republic of Moldova. This statement was made during a meeting of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Ion Chicu, with the chairman of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Suma Chakrabarti.

In this context, the Prime Minister thanked for the invitation to take part in the first Investment Summit of the EaP countries and expressed interest in further developing a strategic partnership with the EBRD, moldpres.md reports. “We count on the continued support of the EBRD as one of the main development partners of the Republic of Moldova for implementation of projects aimed at improving our living standards, such as energy security, development of the private and banking sectors, as well as introduction of an electronic public procurement system”, said Ion Chicu.

The Prime Minister also proposed initiating negotiations to sign a new financing agreement to continue implementation of the Program in the road sector since 2022. At the same time, Ion Chicu noted that the Republic of Moldova would appreciate support of technical assistance in the restructuring process of the enterprise “Railway of Moldova”.
