European Union response to the Moldovan government resignation


The vote on no confidence in the Government of the Republic of Moldova on issues related to the process of appointing the Prosecutor General is alarming relating to the process of implementing reforms in the country.

The coalition has taken a number of initiatives to fulfill key commitments made since June, in particular in the area of anti-corruption, judicial independence and investigation of bank fraud.

The need for such reforms did not disappear with a vote for the government resignation.

Partnership with the European Union will continue to focus on providing tangible benefits to the Moldovan citizens. We will continue to build our relations with the Republic of Moldova on the principles of the rule of law and democratic standards,
” the statement of the European Union says.
