Igor Dodon discussed bilateral cooperation with the President of Azerbaijan


The second working meeting in Ashgabat Igor Dodon held with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

During the conversation, the parties reiterated their interest in furthering the bilateral political dialogue at various levels and in all areas for the benefit of our peoples. Igor Dodon praised holding of Baku Global Forum, in which the Moldovan President had the honor to participate and is considering the possibility of participating in the eighth Forum, which will be held in Baku on March 12-14, 2020.

Speaking about cooperation in the trade and economic field, despite a certain positive trend that has been recently observed in bilateral trade, we have to admit that this volume does not fully reflect the possibility of cooperation between our states.

I emphasized our interest in the implementation of joint investment projects, in creation of joint ventures, participation of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs in the work of free economic zones, industrial parks, specialized exhibitions in our country, in cooperation in transport and energy fields and others
”, he said.

As the last meeting of the Intergovernmental Moldavian-Azerbaijani Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Chisinau back in 2012, Igor Dodon expressed his readiness to organize the next, 4th meeting.

The President of the Republic of Moldova also thanked Ilham Aliyev for the assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova, especially for the projects in the field of culture and education implemented in the Gagauz autonomy through the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

At the end of the conversation, the Head of our State confirmed invitation to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on an official visit to Moldova, which would be a good opportunity to discuss in detail the pressing issues of the Moldovan-Azerbaijani relations.
