The President called for restoration of full-format cooperation between Moldova and Russia

Igor Dodon met with Dmitry Patrushev, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation of Moldova and Russia.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova for Reintegration and the Co-Chair of the Moldovan-Russian Intergovernmental Commission Vasily Sova and the Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov.

The break between the meetings of the commission lasted three years. This negatively affected development of our trade and economic relations with the Russian Federation. I welcomed signing of the Protocol of the intergovernmental commission meeting, which will restore the full-fledged cooperation in such areas as energy, agriculture, food industry, transport, construction, as well as in the field of migration, health, culture, science, innovation, sports, interethnic relations, regional cooperation and the environment. Within the framework of the ongoing work, it is important to continue developing the legal framework for cooperation between Moldova and Russia,” the Head of State said.

Igor Dodon drew attention to the fact that the meeting of the intergovernmental commission took place on the eve of the second Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum, which will be held these days in Chisinau.

It is now very important that the agreements reached be transformed into the practical plane of the government’s work, and our countries could start discussing long-term investment projects that the Republic of Moldova desperately needs for the next meeting of the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission,” he added.

At the end of the meeting, Igor Dodon thanked Dmitry Patrushev for the enormous work done to restore the trade and economic relations between Moldova and Russia and expressed hope for intensive cooperation in the future.
