A Dutchman recruited children from Moldova for prostitution

The Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases reports on extradition from Georgia to the Republic of Moldova of a Dutch citizen accused of trafficking in children, including that committed on the territory of the Republic of Moldova from 2015 to 2018.

It is known that the man acted as part of an international criminal network. According to the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office, the accused used the difficult financial situation of some families of rural areas in the south of the country. He selected children under the age of 14 and offered them expensive things and money for entertainment. He invited them to visit his home in the same locality, as well as in Romania. There, the children were sexually exploited.

As a result of investigative measures, the suspect was identified, after which he was extradited from Georgia, where he was hiding from justice. The man faces imprisonment of 15 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
