New outbreaks of African plague recorded in Moldova


The African swine fever virus (ASF) was detected in the village of Gura Galbenei, Chimishla region, where two pigs were killed in one of the private households, according to the National Food Safety Agency.

Another outbreak of swine fever was found in the village of Cucoara, Cagul district. 63 pigs were killed after several animals became ill.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and check all households in the settlements where the virus was detected.

Currently, 11 active foci of swine fever are registered in the Republic of Moldova.
