Moldova can return to proportional system
The government approved a bill to amend some of the regulations relating to elections. Thus, it is proposed to return to the proportional electoral system on party lists, realitatea.md writes.
According to a government press release, the new provisions are aimed at improving the electoral system, in particular: how to vote in the diaspora; transparency of party funding and election campaigns; establishing clear procedures for the compilation of lists of candidates.
The project also provides for the cancellation of certificates of integrity; abolition of campaigning on election day, as well as the right of the diaspora to vote on the basis of overdue passports and valid identity cards.
Majority of deputies from the PSRM and the ACUM bloc have already voted for this project in the first reading.
