BREAKING! Parliament declared Harunzhen’s appointment to the prosecutor general’s office illegal
Moldovan parliament deputies stated by majority vote that appointment of Edward Harunzhen as the country's prosecutor general in 2016 was a violation. In particular, he was elected to the post of Prosecutor General, despite the fact that he was a member of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors, that is prohibited by law.
Thus, the appointment of Haruzhen was declared illegal by Parliament. Now this parliamentary decision will be handed over to President Igor Dodon so that he may issue a decree on Harunzhen’s resignation.
“Restoration and strengthening of the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova is the number one priority for us, and any attempts to undermine this process will be firmly stopped,” the President said om the eve.
