The President launched events in honor of the 75th anniversary of Moldova liberation
Today, in Sherpeni, events were launched under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Moldova in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Moldova liberation from the Nazi occupation.
Together with Russian Ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov, presidential advisers, leadership of the Union of Officers, civil activists and members of the Young Guard, the Head of State, his wife Galina, and the younger son Nikolai took part in planting trees at the Sherpeni bridgehead memorial complex.
As Igor Dodon told on his page on the social network, it was planned to hold events in all cities, which this year would celebrate the anniversary of the liberation. Already on Monday, March 18, we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the town of Soroca liberation. April 13 marks the 75th anniversary of heroic capture of the Sherpeni bridgehead itself. On May 9, traditional Victory March will be held, and on August 24, on the anniversary of completion of the Iasi-Kishinev operation, another march will take place in the capital.
The action plan also provides for the restoration of historical monuments, reburial of the remains of soldiers, organization of activities for the patriotic education of young people, publication of scientific and journalistic works, a documentary film about the liberation of Moldova. In addition, at the initiative of the President, we will visit all the veterans of the Great Patriotic War at home.
The Head of State thanked all those who make efforts to perpetuate the memory of the heroes, and expressed confidence that the nationwide celebration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Moldova would play an important role in strengthening our statehood and patriotic education of our young people.
