The Head of State met a meeting with representatives of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations
Moldovan President Igor Dodon met with representatives of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) headed by Mr. Dritan Taulla.
During the discussion, issues related to the election campaign and parliamentary elections, were discussed.
The Head of State said that parliamentary elections should be held democratically, openly and transparently in compliance with the international standards and in strict accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova.
“In this regard, I called on the ENEMO mission to delegate as many observers as possible to ensure the legitimacy and transparency of the parliamentary elections.
I stressed that the legitimacy of the elections could be questioned by two factors: removal of one of the parties or a candidate from the single-mandate constituency from the campaign and restriction of access for voters wishing to exercise their right to choose. In this connection I expressed concern about decision of the CEC to transfer the polling stations for Moldovan citizens in the Transnistrian region 40 km deep into the territory of the Republic of Moldova. This can be regarded as a gross violation of their electoral rights,” said the President of the republic.
