Precipitation in Moldova will continue until Wednesday evening
Heavy precipitation in the form of snow, sleet and rain will persist until tomorrow, the sunny weather is expected on Thursday, MOLDPRES reports with reference to the State Hydrometeorological Service.
Snow and sleet are predicted in the north and in the center of the country, while in the south short rains are possible in some places. Precipitations will not form a thick layer of snow, because the maximum temperature reaches 3-5 degrees C. On Wednesday, however, it will become colder, at night to minus 5-7 degrees C throughout the country.
The amount of precipitation in February is 23–40 mm across the country, and the number of days with precipitation varies from 10 to 14. For the entire observation period, the highest amount of precipitation per month reached 139 mm (Vulcanesti, 1969), and for a day - 70 mm (Goeni, 1999). Precipitation falls mostly in the form of snow. The average decadal height of snow cover varies over the territory from three to 11 cm. The maximum reached 71 cm (February 28, 1973, Briceni).
In February, usually fogs are possible, icing and frost (2-6 days), ice (about 10 days) and snowstorms (1-2 days).
