Grigory Novak got back those wishing to include the Romanian language in the Moldovan Constitution
Liberal Democrats and Liberals tried in vain to put an initiative in the agenda of the legislative body session to introduce an amendment to Article 13 of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, which provided for a change in the name of the state language of the country from Moldovan to Romanian.
As noted by the deputy of the PSRM, Grigory Novak, this project could not be included on the agenda, both from ideological, and legal considerations.
“We have already spoken many times about how appropriate it is to change the Constitution in the current situation. But I want to talk about the legal side of the issue. This draft has neither a report of the legal commission nor conclusions of all the necessary commissions. It’s too early to talk about the possibility of including initiatives, it is simply meaningless,"- the deputy said.
As a result, the initiative to include the project in the agenda was not put to the vote. It is worth noting that earlier the Liberals promised to vote for the inclusion of European integration in the country's highest law only after the Democrats vote to rename the language from Moldovan to Romanian in the Moldovan Constitution.
