Chisinau Vice Mayor: 10 million lei allocated for the purchase of housing to the explosion victims, will be spent for other needs
The vice mayor of Chisinau, Nistor Grozavu, made a statement in which he said that the building no. 11/5 that had suffered from the gas explosion on Moskovsky Avenue would not be demolished. In the near future work will begin to restore the destroyed apartments, which will last at least about six months. During this period, all residents of the entrance will have to live elsewhere.
“Bearing walls almost did not suffer. The only exception is the apartment on the 16th floor, which was the epicenter of the explosion. We will strengthen this vertical from 1 to 21 floors,” the vice mayor said.
There will also be a check of the plumbing, heating system, power supply and elevators restored.
At the same time, the funds allocated by the municipality in the amount of 10 million lei, for which the purchase of a new housing by the victims of the explosion was supposed, will be spent on repair work on the restoration of the affected apartments.
