The delegation of the Republic of Moldova headed by Zinaida Greceanii met with Konstantin Kosachev
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova, headed by the chairman of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova Zinaida Greceanii, met on September 19 with the chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council of Russia, Konstantin Kosachev. The meeting was held on the margins of the Second Eurasian Women's Forum, which takes place in St. Petersburg. Bashkan of Gagauzia Irina Vlakh took part in the conversation as well.
Zinaida Greceanii thanked for the invitation to take part in the Forum, which is rightfully considered the largest and most authoritative international platform for discussing the role of women in the modern society.
During the conversation, the parties touched upon a wide range of issues of mutual interest. In particular about development of bilateral cooperation and inter-parliamentary ties. Zinaida Greceanii noted the activation of the interparliamentary friendship group Moldova-Russia, which she heads.
The meeting participants also discussed political situation in the Republic of Moldova. In particular, it was about the forthcoming parliamentary elections on February 24, 2019. Zinaida Greceanii noted that the elections in Moldova would be held in a mixed system where half of the deputies are elected by party lists and the other by single-mandate constituencies. Moldovan citizens who live or work abroad will take part in elections in three single-mandate constituencies, one of which is formed for the CIS, including Russia.
The Chairman of the PSRM also told that the Party of Socialists - the largest political formation in the Republic of Moldova - has already begun active preparation for the parliamentary elections. Currently, protest actions are held in the regions of the republic against the 9-year destructive rule of the so-called "pro-European" government.
Konstantin Kosachev noted that the parliamentary elections on February 24, 2019 would undoubtedly play an important role in the history of the Republic of Moldova.
During the conversation, the sides also touched upon the issues of the regional cooperation. In particular, Irina Vlakh said that in the beginning of November this year in Gagauzia would be held the IV International Forum InvestGagauzia, in which the Russian delegation would be widely represented. Konstantin Kosachev was invited to take part in the Gagauz forum, as well as in the wine day in Chisinau.
