The capital prosecutor's office announced completion of investigation and sending a criminal case to the court about the traffiking of people. Accused is a 20-year-old resident of Ungheni. According to the case file, in 2016 she lured three girls from disadvantaged families who were between 18 and 25 years old, offering them work in Cyprus. There, the girls were placed in a nightclub where they were forced to prostitute. Some of the money they earned was taken away by Turkish citizens who were pimps.

After returning to Moldova, the victims appealed to law enforcement agencies, which initiated criminal proceedings and investigation. If the defendant is found guilty, she faces a penalty of imprisonment for 7 to 15 years.
