Socialists appealed to the leadership of Transnistria in connection with the detention of deputies and civil activists
“The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova is concerned about the detention of political figures and public activists in Tiraspol. First of all, we are talking about the deputy of the Supreme Council of Transnistria, the leader of the Communist Party of Transnistria Oleg Horzhan and his associates.
We know Oleg Horzhan and his supporters as true patriots of the region, respectful of our historical past, supporters of social justice, Moldovan identity, Eurasian integration and friendship with Russia, convinced opponents of unionism and NATO membership.
At the same time, Oleg Horzhan and his supporters showed themselves as people open to dialogue between the two banks of the Dniester, primarily with those forces that share the same values.
The Party of Socialists categorically condemns manifestations of violence in any form, especially against law enforcement officers. At the same time, we are convinced that every person should be guaranteed the right to freely express his political position and conduct peaceful protests.
The Party of Socialists appeals to the leadership of Transnistria with a request to change the measure of restraint and release all detainees for participating in peaceful protest rallies.
The Party of Socialists expresses hope that the investigation will be conducted objectively, without political pressure from either side.
The Party of Socialists firmly supports the rapprochement between the two banks of the Dniester, for the continuation of the dialogue between the representatives of the public of both banks, especially among people who share the same values.”
