Grigory Novak: Consul of Romania in Balti undermines Moldovan statehood
As the people's representative from PSRM informs, from the middle of January this year the Romanian consul held meetings with mayors, vice mayors and chairmen of the districts of the north of the country in order to persuade them to sign the so-called "declaration on unification with Romania".
Instead of signatures Bachu offered them from 1,000 to 2,000 euros for one signed declaration. Novak also noted that Bachu conducted open propaganda in favor of the National Unity Party headed by two citizens who have problems with the law - Traian Basescu and Anatol Salaru.
All negotiations, recruitment of mayors and district chairmen, as well as transfer of money in most cases took place in the institutions and restaurants of the municipality of Balti, Novak notes. According to him, similar actions took place on the territory of Romania, especially during visits by local representatives of the Republic of Moldova to the neighboring country on various joint projects.
"I hope that the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Moldova, the Information and Security Service, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, will check the illegal actions of the General Consul of Romania in Balti, Mihai Bachu and at least put forward a protest note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania”, concluded the socialist.
