Plastic bags are banned in Moldova
The Moldovan parliament voted in final reading for the ban on the use of plastic bags in commercial institutions.
The law will be applied for mobile or stationary kiosks since 2020. For shops with medium or small area - from January 1, 2018, and for large stores from this year.
Sale and use of disposable bags will be punished with a fine in the amount of 100 to 150 conventional units for individuals and from 100 to 200 for legal entities.
A survey conducted by Magenta Consulting showed that almost 80% of Moldovan citizens are ready to use biodegradable packages if they are sold at an affordable price.
