Dodon discussed with Mukhametshin and Gubarev the settlement of the Transnistrian question
President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon held a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Farit Mukhametshin and the Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Gubarev. During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail a large number of issues related to the settlement of the Transnistrian issue.
Igor Dodon noted that to date, special attention was paid to solving problems from the "8 + 2" package, which required prompt implementation in the context of confidence-building measures between the banks of the Dniester.
Also, the President confirmed that active dialogue was continuing at the level of the country's leadership and at the level of our external partners to develop a common vision of a special status for Transnistria.
The Head of State stressed his support for the efforts to fasten the previously reached agreements, on concrete steps that are being taken to convene the next meeting in the "5 + 2" format and to consolidate the positive results.
In conclusion, the sides exchanged views on the regional situation, on the progress achieved in the mutual relations of our countries, on the intensification of mutual contacts at the highest level, including the forthcoming visit of the President to the Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Igor Dodon thanked Farit Mukhametshin and Sergey Gubarev for their readiness to render all-round assistance to Moldova in activating Moldovan-Russian relations.
